An adult male elephant has been found fallen in a field near the Galgamuwa–Nanneriya area. After receiving information from villagers, we visited the location and informed wildlife officers. Villagers said the elephant had been walking around injured for several days.
It appears that one of its legs is infected, and there is also a mark behind its ear that may be from a new gunshot wound. Although it seems unlikely to survive, the elephant is still trying hard to move.
Wildlife officers have arrived at the scene, and a team of veterinary doctors has also been informed.
