The “Let’s Give Kalawewa Back to the Elephants” grassland restoration program began this morning at the Kalawewa tank premises. The work was carried out in the area where the Siyambalagas Kella stream joins the Kalawewa in Dambulu Oya.
Around 450 personnel from the tri-forces together with about 200 other volunteers — totaling over 650 participants — took part in this initiative. By this evening, the first day of the program was successfully completed.
All arrangements have been made to continue the program tomorrow as the second day of activities. Those who were unable to join today can still participate tomorrow or on the following day (September 6th and 7th).
Let’s make Kalawewa a thriving home for elephants once again.
